The UK tradition of publishing annuals just before Christmas has been around for some time. The best selling annuals – a little bird told us – are One Direction, Minecraft and The Beano. Whilst two of these are relative newcomers, The Beano has been going for some time, alongside both Rupert the Bear and The Dandy. The range offered now is huge, from a rack of Disney titles – Disney Princess, Barbie, Pixar, Disney Fairies, Monsters Inc. – to offerings by none other than Jacqueline Wilson and Terry Deary’s Horrible Histories. And if you’re buying for a comic books fan, check out the Marvel Heroes and Batman annuals. For those into Sci Fi there is always the Doctor Who annual. What about those budding engine drivers? You won’t be let down by the Thomas and Friends annual. And for lovers of fantasy novels, there is always The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug.
