Annemarie Young is an experienced editor and author of children's books, with a particular emphasis on writing stories to help children learn to read. Steve Smallman has taken up writing his own stories after illustrating children's books for over 30 years. He also teaches illustration and mural-painting workshops in schools. When he's not working, Steve enjoys films, television, gardening and walking in the countryside. Nick Schon was born in London and now lives in Luton with his wife, three children and five lazy cats. He has worked as an art director at an advertising agency and now illustrates full time. Kate Ruttle is a SENCO and Key Practitioner for Inclusion & Literacy in Suffolk. She has written many standardised tests for Hodder. Roderick Hunt started out as a teacher, but began writing for children in 1970. He collaborated with Alex Brychta on a series of children books for the Oxford Reading Tree which had an animated spin-off, The Magic Key series. Roderick and Alex won the prestigious Outstanding Achievement Award at the Education Resources Awards 2009. Now he says, "On my income tax form I put down my profession as storyteller. It never fails to raise an eyebrow. " He lives in London.
