Shelagh McNicholas has illustrated many books for children, including I Am Jazz, The Perfect Pony, and Little Ballet Star. She lives in England. Frances Mary Hendry entered a Canongate writing competition in 1986, won it and has been writing ever since. She's best known for her Canongate 'Quest for' series. She's won the Writer's Guild Award and the Scottish Arts Council Literary Award twice. She lives in Nairn in the West of Scotland.
