Sitting above Young Reading Series Three, Young Reading Plus is for fully confident, independent readers who still need lots of practice in order to build their reading stamina and vocabulary.

When the bridle-less and rider-less Palomino pony clatters into the yard, Jess doesn't flinch. Thanks top her quick reactions the beautiful pony is caught. Hot on the pony's hooves comes a man waving a head collar. But the man chasing the Palomino is not all he seems, and soon Jess is bitterly regretting her moment of heroism.

Susannah Leigh has been pony mad ever since she can remember. She first started riding lessons when she was eight years old, at East Farm Stables in Hertfordshire. Although she never had a pony of her own, the friends she made and the ponies she rode at East Farm would become the inspiration for Sandy Lane Stables. As well as writing two titles in the Sandy Lane Stables series, Susannah has written several other books for Usborne, most notably the Usborne Young Puzzle Book series. Susannah now lives in South Norfolk, where she can be found most weekends cheering on her daughter at the local gymkhanas.
