Great for age 0-13 years
The Tale of Peter Rabbit follows the mischievous and adventurous young rabbit, Peter, who lives with his mother and siblings—Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail—in a cozy burrow. Peter's mother warns her children to stay out of Mr. McGregor's garden, as Peter's father had an unfortunate fate there. However, Peter, being curious and disobedient, sneaks into the garden, where he indulges in vegetables and herbs. His feast is cut short when Mr. McGregor spots him, and a frantic chase ensues. Peter scrambles to escape, losing his shoes and jacket in the process. After several close calls, he manages to slip out of the garden and back to the safety of his home, exhausted and frightened. Meanwhile, his well-behaved siblings enjoy a peaceful evening with supper, while Peter is sent to bed without any. The tale highlights themes of curiosity, consequences for disobedience, and the importance of listening to warnings.

Peter Rabbit and Friends
The first of Beatrix Potter's tales - the Tale of Peter Rabbit - started initially as a tale in a letter to the son of her governess, Noel. She revised the story into a book but was unable to find a publisher so published it herself. After its success, Frederick Warne agreed to publish it if she coloured the illustrations. Beatrix went on to write and illustrate a further 22 tales, all of which have become classic best sellers.
